Today, the children were able to choose any activity for table time. Some knew exactly what they wanted to do and others just followed the lead of others and joined in on an activity. We had shaving cream, markers, and cutting, gluing scrap paper going at the same time. We practiced our writing skills on our white boards and some of us dressed up like superheroes and pretended to fly! We also learned something we did not know about our VIP he knows how to do a handstand!
We read a Sesame Street book called Hooray for our Heroes! It is a great book to teach kids the difference between character superheroes and real life heroes. We then talked about who our hero was and drew a picture of our hero. It is R week we learned the letter R in sign language. We added small pumpkins to our Science Center and one of our families donated some bigger pumpkins! Thank you so much we really appreciate it!! đŸ™‚
This week our theme is superheroes! Today, we talked about the difference between a pretend superhero character and a real life hero that helps protect us, keep us safe, or help us in an emergency. We worked together to come up with a pretty good list!
Miss Coli from the Library came by for our monthly storytime. This was the first visit of the new school year we were happy to have her back! Thank you for reading to us and sharing the fun felt board activity!
Our VIP shared his board with us and 2 of his favorite toys. The sheep is made with real wool!!
Today, we talked about how dangerous it can be to play with lighters, matches, or lit candles! We learned if we see a lighter or match laying around we should not touch them and tell an adult or take them straight to an adult and ask them to put it away in a safe spot. We hid small craft sticks that had a red tip. We told them they were pretend matches and we wanted them to bring them to Miss Jessica when they found them. There were 20 hiding and they helped Miss Jessica count them as they found them. They loved it so much they went in the quiet room so she could hide them again!
We played Duck Duck Goose and Paint the Alphabet. Check out our Facebook page for pictures of these activities! We had a special reader! Thank you so much to our VIP’S grandma for being our guest reader! We wrote in our journals and had a lot of fun playing! Hats were popular today!!
REMINDER: Book orders are due on Friday.
We practiced Stop, Drop, and Roll today! If your clothes catch on fire Don’t Run! This will make the fire spread. Instead drop down on the floor, cover your face, and roll until the fire goes out. Big Emilea always says I really thought this was going to be a bigger problem than it actually is… We were taught this over and over and over again. I always tell her…But if you ever did find yourself in that situation it would be very important to know what to do.
We learned a fun song called Hurry Hurry Drive the Fire Truck http://www.kididdles.com/lyrics/h027.html
We put “fire” on our dollhouse and pretended we were firefighter and sprayed the fire out! They absolutely loved this! It was a great sensory and fine motor activity! They also made art with red, yellow, and orange crayons and markers.
REMINDER: Book orders due Friday, and if you would like to order pictures please do so ASAP. Thank you!
We sang our B song and practiced writing it in the sky. Our VIP shared her poster, some of her favorite things, and her Aunt came in to read us some of her favorite books! Thank you we love having guest readers!
We practiced getting outside quickly by having a fire drill today. They did an awesome job stopping what they were doing and getting in a quick line by the door. We did color mixing, this group loves color mixing! They are always asking what does this color and that color make? So today we did “fire” finger paint with red and yellow… red and yellow make orange. The older kiddos also enjoyed using their finger to draw pictures and letters in their painting.
REMINDER: Please return picture order forms ASAP if you would like to order. Book orders are due Friday. Thank you!
