Christmas

We have been very busy trying to get our mommy and daddy presents done!  Today we made wrapping paper to wrap our presents in.  The children also said they wanted to paint so we used watercolor paints.  Party tomorrow 10:45-11:30! Please remember to bring in a wrapped children’s book for our gift exchange if you have not done so yet.

Yes, that is his sock!

Christmas Around the World

We learned how they celebrate the Holidays in Australia and England today.  We noticed that their flags and our flags are all red, white, and blue but they all look very different.  In Australia they believe Santa doesn’t come on a sleigh, he comes in on a surfboard!  The tradition of mailing Christmas cards to loved ones came from England.   We had a Christmas Card making station, and we made a candy cane to hang outside for the birds with a red pipe cleaner and cherrios.  Tomorrow is Polar Express Day, don’t forget the PJs!  Friday is our Christmas Party, bring in a wrapped children’s book for our gift exchange.  Friday night is our Parent’s Night Out, all money collected goes to our boy and girl we are buying gifts for this year.

Christmas

This week our theme will be Christmas.  We will talk about traditions we have in the United States, and we will also be learning about how people from around the world celebrate the Holidays!  We will also be working on some surprises this week so you may not see a lot of art activity pictures on the blog.  If you need some help wrapping your presents you can count on these kiddos!  We brought out the wrapping paper, scissors, and tape today and they were wrapping all kinds of things.  They had so much fun, and they were really good at it too!  It was so nice to be able to get back outside today!  We will be having a makeup Polar Express Day on Wednesday.  Send your child in their PJs!  Friday is our Christmas Party 10:45 – 11:30 there is a sign-up sheet on the counter in the office if you would like to help with our party.  We are also asking for every child to bring in a wrapped Children’s Book for our gift exchange.

Polar Express Day Take 1

We had so much fun today!  We had a special guest join us for Polar Express Day… Miss Tiffany!  She read the book for us and then stayed to help decorate cookies and play!  Thank You Miss Tiff it was fun having you today!  We sat up a train in one room and then they decided we needed a sleigh in the other room.  We had hot chocolate and danced to the Polar Express Soundtrack.  We also got a special letter from Santa with our very own bells!  You only can hear the bells if you truly believe.  It was so much fun lets do it again tomorrow :o)

Name Train

Today we finished our name trains with the children who were not here yesterday.  Did a little painting, built some train tracks out of magnet block and our brick blocks, and did a whole lot of playing!  We also finished our name chart and the results are – we have 1child with 8 letters in their name, 3 with 7, 3 with 6 and 3 with 5.  We also wrote what we would like for Christmas during our morning writing time.

Name Trains

We got to welcome another new friend today!  We are so happy to have you!  This week our Theme is Polar Express.  We will be doing many train activities and finishing our week off with Polar Express Days on Thursday and Friday!  Don’t forget to wear your PJs!!  Today we talked about our names.  We wrote them on a piece of paper and counted how many letters we all have.  We have some very long names this year… We had 1 with 8, 2 with 7, and 2 with 5 letters.  We made name trains.  We colored our engine, drew our tracks and then glued the letters of our name on.  We also had a special visitor, thank you Miss Coli from the Camdenton Library for coming in and reading to us and sharing your fun Rudolph flannel board with us!

Gingerbread Baby

I saved my favorite Gingerbread book for last, Gingerbread  Baby by Jan Brett.  We worked together and made a Gingerbread Village.  I have a new respect for people who make those awesome, completely edible, Gingerbread houses, yep that was not us!  After Miss Brittany tried to use the icing to “glue” them together and they kept collapsing I got the glue gun out!  I’m not proud of that, but when the kids are ready to decorate you do what you got to do!!  Oh Well we weren’t going to eat them anyway!  LOL  We also celebrated St. Nicholas Day today.  We are so happy we were able to share in one of our PLA families Hungarian Traditions.

Gingerbread Bear

We read the Gingerbread Bear today.  We made some very cool Gingerbread Paint by adding brown paint, cinnamon, shaving cream and glue.  It was quite the Sensory Experience.  It was sticky, and smelled so good.  I can’t wait to see how it dries.  We also had another optional activity available to  decorate a foam Gingerbread Man.  Be sure and check out the Spidey blog entry daily to see what our Elf has been up to!  Reminder – If Camdenton School has a Snow Day so do we, and Book Orders are due tomorrow.
